Workshop: Creative Flow: Shibori as Art & Articulation
Saturday, February 7 from 10:30 AM-4:30 PM at Mary Jaeger’s Atelier
Every piece of art has a story to tell. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to express that story through an original, handcrafted textile work and in words.
From craft to creative flow, this enriching shibori workshop will teach you the art of hand-stitch resist techniques and tips for writing about creative experiences with confidence.
The art of the handmade is all about using your hands to tell the story your heart and soul wants to embrace and sing. You’ll start by articulating and sharing a story that you’ll infuse into your stitch-resist scarf design. Then you’ll learn how to best express it in writing. This experience will also invite you to be open to the lessons that the art-making process teaches us, bursting creative blocks and moving you into an energetic flow. Together we'll examine head-heart-hand coherence through a visual and written dialogue.
With a global background in textile and clothing design, Mary will teach you shaped stitch-resist techniques (nui-shibori) you will use to design a scroll-like silk scarf. As a Creative Coach and writer, Lisa will help you unleash your creative energy, tell your story, and express your vision for your art in words.
In this unique workshop, you’ll:
* Learn the technical skills involved in the art of shibori using hand stitching
*Create an original silk scarf you can wear home
*Articulate a personal story that can be expressed in your art and in writing
Join us for this creatively empowering and making session, and create original fashion that tells YOUR story!
