The collection of 5-CORNER SCARVES is a tribute to scarf designer Vera Neumann, who took a square scarf and cut an opening from one corner to the center, creating five corners. The simple slit offers the wearer great opportunities to drape and wrap the otherwise square textile piece in a variety of ways, fueled by their imagination. Ms. Neumann's exhibition Vera Paints a Scarf was at the Museum of Art and Design (New York City) August 8-January 26, 2020.
The design for the featherweight silk chiffon SWISS CROSS BLUR SCARF was inspired by the graphic cross of the Swiss Flag. The original hand-stitched resist dye work was created on a cotton knit long sleeve tunic. Wrapping the scarf as a garment or accessory (top/skirt/cape/turban) adds a casual quality that nods to everyday street wear, yet printed on silk chiffon it takes on an elegant tome that is timeless and seasonless.
