The collection of 5-CORNER SCARVES is a tribute to scarf designer Vera Neumann, who took a square scarf and cut an opening from one corner to the center, creating five corners. The simple slit offers the wearer great opportunities to drape and wrap the otherwise square textile piece in a variety of ways, fueled by their imagination. Ms. Neumann's exhibition Vera Paints a Scarf was at the Museum of Art and Design (New York City) August 8-January 26, 2020.
The three-dimensional illusion suggested by the diaphanous silk chiffon PINK+GREEN BONBON SHORT PONCHO was created by photographing a softly sculpted, wildly colorful pink and green Accordion BonBon. The large scale design looks fresh worn loosely layered around the neck or wrapped around the head like an exotic turban.
