The collection of 5-CORNER SCARVES is a tribute to scarf designer Vera Neumann, who took a square scarf and cut an opening from one corner to the center, creating five corners. The simple slit offers the wearer myriad opportunities to drape and wrap the otherwise square textile piece in a variety of ways, fueled by their imagination. Ms. Neumann's exhibition Vera Paints a Scarf was at the Museum of Art and Design (New York City) August 8-January 26, 2020.
There is an animal spirit quality to the STRIPES OF LOVE 5-CORNER SCARF design that was created in the unfolding process of a resist-dyed silk charmeuse skirt. The tonal red and brown shades combine like pop art Ben-Day dots, softening the hand-stitched linear pattern.
