The collection of 5-CORNER SCARVES is a tribute to scarf designer Vera Neumann, who took a square scarf and cut from one corner to the center, creating five corners. The simple slit offers the wearer great opportunities to drape and wrap the otherwise square textile piece in a variety of ways, fueled by their imagination. Ms. Neumann's exhibition Vera Paints a Scarf was at the Museum of Art and Design (New York City) August 8-January 26, 2020.
The dynamic red lines of the RED LOVE THREAD ZIGZAG SCARF examine a bold machine stitched red thread accent on a pair of resist-dyed jeans I updated for a client. The twill weave of the denim creates an undulating overall diagonal stripe pattern in tonal blue shades. The scarf suggests the casual quality of everyday street wear, yet printed on silk chiffon it takes on an elegant tome that is timeless.
